Hello, good people! :-)
Last year I bought my first ever Alembic bass. Been wanting one for a long time, but haven't prioritized owning one before now. It came up for sale in Norway early last year and I went to pick it up.
The serial number is 81 1762, so I guess it's a 1981 model.
It was sold in Norway, by Guitar Workshop in Oslo, I believe.
It is slightly modified, the fingerboard as carved out a little at the end, to allow for the finger to slip underneath the strings more easily between the pickup and the fingerboard, and the pickup selector switch has been moved to the control cluster, rather than sitting in the lower horn (I'd prefer it to be original, but it's professionally done and the cavity is filled and blocked, so it is what it is).
No paperwork came with the bass, unfortunately, it's probably been lost over the years. But I do have the splitter/power supply box and the 5-pin cable, fortunately :-) And a nice hard case. This bass has been played by Pete Agnew of Nazareth in concerts in Norway (at least once).
I was wondering if you have any further information on this bass? I feel it's a piece of history. Besides a Hagström Viking bass from 1967, it's currently the oldest instrument in my stable!
