When I got my europa 5, it was also strung that way. Fortunately, the saddles were cut for a standard 5 string so it was simple to put it back to standard tuning. That may be the case with this one too.

They're both nice, and I'm all about a 5-string Alembic... but that cherry-burst is hot. I wonder if this is the same one we discussed a while back where the question about the "WAXY" pickups came up?

i think this one's made the rounds already, no power supply or cable apparently plus ya gotta get it from there to here.

Interesting that that EVH has the 5-pin socket and, i'm no expert on electronics but i can't see anything to reduce voltage of the DS-5 power supply into that bass so i presume that those circuits can take the 36vdc.

It's been a while, but that ones been up before. I think back at Edwin's. It always reminds me of Rob [mtjam]'s EVH 5-string. The grafted walnut top wood is the giveaway. Hang on, I'll find the post...

Well, it appears only the + voltage from pin-4 of the XLR is being used.  I can't tell from the photo where that pink wire goes but there is also a small resistor at the 1/4" jack which may be to drop the voltage a bit from what would be 15-20VDC.  And the audio output is connected to pin-2 so that would appear at the Bass pickup jack of a DS5.

looks like someone cleaned it up from the earlier  pix.  also interestin that the price went down from the original posting 3 years ago.  i'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that wasn't done at the factory, but it apparently does have stereo output (a yuge plus at the house o'BeenDown).  i'd want a look under the hood (or bonnet for youse eastereners) before forking out any $USD,  too bad it's not in hte US.  or conversely, it's just as well it's not in the US, outta reach outta mind.

cheers!

t

<edit>  i did look under the hood/bonnet.  i dunno.  is that factory work?  my A-bass has stereo output on a 1/4" TRS but the jack's laid out for a 5-pin.  wouldn't take much to do a conversion,i could handle the electrical work but i sure wouldn't do hte lutherie part.
