Glasgow is a pretty good hop from home for you, Jazzy. Scotland Road Trip!

There is a Glasgow here in Virginia too... just another tiny Appalachian town though. I have been through there many times, can't recall playing there exactly,  but many times in nearby Buena Vista and Lexington.

Actually, I have only been to Scotland three times and all for gigs.
My flurry of gigs have calmed down so not had anymore since that gig. Hope that changes soon and something that I can open up the filters on these basses a bit more.

Another dep gig with a UB40 tribute band. Tonight at Sutton Coldfield FC

Playing with a band called Johnny 2 bad.
I've done a couple of gigs with them so far this summer.
The keyboardist and drummer were also in the band I first toured with in the USA in 1992 as backing band for Pato Banton. The keyboard player I also toured with as part of Apache Indian's backing band from about 2004 to 2008.

Last minute call Thursday for a gig tonight with yes... another UB40 tribute band.
Some additional tracks i've not known or played before so got my fingers round those last night and I have today to work through the set.
Long time since i've taken a 4 string on a gig so tonight will be my Elan 4 with flats on. I've never done a gig with flats before, (excluding the classico), so this might be interesting to hear the difference between them and rounds in a live context.
It's about 20 miles away and I  think it's a small pub with a PA so a travelling light with F-1X, power amp and Barefaced Big Baby II.

That sounds like a good time! As a bonus I'm betting that double P Elan sounds great with flats. (you went with D'Addario Chromes, right?) I like the gigs closer to home and smaller anymore. Got one later today myself; a fall festival in a nearby small town.

Just got here and it’s a large sports bar. And it’s a playback gig. The band trumpet player got a solo gig here and the venue said yes but for aesthetic they wanted 4 people on stage. So he is using his laptop for the tracks and i can either play along with the bass on the playback or mime. 🧐🫣🙄😁

Yes chromes but they feel too tightso  at somepoint I will try some lower tension flats on it.
I did some practice today with them. Whilst i can hear why they are revered on p-Style basses,I will probably keep them on this bass for contrast to my rounds on other basses.

i've backed up a lot of strange acts but i've never faked it to a soundtrack on stage.  i take it all the other extras are faking it too?  do you actually get paid for that?  and people come and watch?  are they aware of it?  i'm agog.
Been down...now i'm out!

I don't know what to write in response to that; can't, as they say, wrap my mind around it.

Well, here's how it went down. I was originally told that there were some backing tracks and I could chose whether I wanted to play bass or guitar and the backing would exclude the instrument I chose to play. So I went with bass. When I got to the gig the band consisted of lead vocals, octopad, and a trumpet player and me. But was then told there is bass on the tracks so the bass out front would only be from the tracks and I can play bass on stage through my rig if I want to or just mime to the tracks. So the trumpet player played along with the brass section on the tracks and percussionist played along with the drum track plus did backing vox.
Now for the chaos!!.
Through the first half the sound engineer turned down the bass in the FOH mix so it ended up that what I was playing through my rig was the only bass in the room and as I had a 1x12 in a large room with about 300 people that wasn't gonna lay down any meat for reggae. When he was confronted in the break, he said he thought we didn't want bass in the PA because we had a bass rig on stage....DOH!!!!
Second half we got through two songs where he had the bass up in the FOH mix, the the electric went off in the whole building, lights and sockets. I've had happen on a number of gigs over the year so as usual I turn off the master switch for my rig. When the power came back on, i turned on the power switch and my power amp didn't come on. Whilst I was trying to check what the reason was, the backing started playing so I had to go back to playing but since I had no sound, and my bass wasn't connected to the PA I had to mime along with the tracks. Never had to do that before except on a video shoot.
Yes I did get paid, but it didn't feel good to be honest and felt like I was conning the punters. Unlikely i'd do that again. That said the band leader is a real nice guy and i've done quite a few last minute gigs with him over the years.

What an amazing turn of coincidental bad luck... about 10 minutes into my set yesterday afternoon at the smalltown fall festival I mentioned (Buchanan, Virginia Mountain Magic Festival, if you're curious) the stage power went out... poof, gone!  I swear, I even heard the main breaker trip. In the calamity that followed, the stagehand started jerking plugs out of sockets, as if that might make the power come back. I managed to shut my amp off before the twit could get to my line. Finally someone who knew where the breakers were came and restored power. At least it was a nice afternoon.

Hope your power amp is okay!
