Well, crap.
I had the honor of seeing - and meeting - he and Mr. Prater about 1981; one of their last performances, at On Broadway, a club in Chicago.  An amazing performance, and both were most gracious to a star-struck young hippie.

Sam & Dave were truly a testament to the power of music to bring people together.  It is a wonder how they could hate each other, constantly fight off-stage, and still join to make great music.

Well, don't forget, Ginger Baker & Jack Bruce loved to play together (Ginger:  "Well, because he has time!") - but couldn't stand the sight of each other.  Emerson, Lake, and Palmer always took 3 separate limos to the venue so they would have to be in each other's company.  Etc., etc.
A wonder?  Yes.  Rare?  Not really.
