Outboard version of the filters in Phil Lesh's legendary Alembic Bass known as  "Osiris" aka "Mission Control".

The filter box is a product from the current owner of Mission Control. The picture is a current picture of the bass.

I like it. Too many puns in the ad, but the product itself is a good idea.

Has anyone here tried one? I use an outboard filter pedal sometimes, mostly for my Guild Starfire bass. It's just got a sweepable lowpass Filter and CVQ though, no choice of filter type or gain. It's an "always on" pedal in my application, and I very seldom mess with the settings. Much like my Alembics, I boost a little bit of the frequencies that tickle my fancy. The Starfire has some subtleties that really come out with that thing... and I can't imagine playing without it now that I've become accustomed to that sound.

So this is interesting. I could sell my Broughton in a flash, and probably for twice what I paid. I just wonder what the experience is on these?

I was on the presale list and ordered one as soon as it went on sale.  When delivered I will report back - shipping is supposed to be few weeks out.  Perhaps I can A:B some recordings with my SF-2?

I'd be very interested to hear what your thoughts are of it compared to the SF-2. I simply don't want to decouple my Superfilter unit from the rack in the house and carry it out to a gig. I have my doubts this Osiris box can compete with it anyway, but it may well be all I need for non-Alembic basses on a gig.


I'm pretty happy with the onboard Filter capabilities with the Alembics... just preamp>poweramp> speakers and I'm done.

Hdfixer... did they give you any additional technical information after your ordered your Osiris Philter? Curious about the frequency range and amount of Q-boost it provides. An SF-2 is going to be more robust in function since you can run two different filter types but the original Mundy filters must differ enough in function from an SF-2 to warrant reverse engineering them. I suspect the SF-2 guts that were subbed for the missing original filters in Mission Control when it was restored were left in the bass and the bass now bypasses those and gets fed into the Osiris Philter.

Hoping that Wolf chimes in, seem to remember that he is knowledgeable about the original George Mundy filters.
