I don't know if "fugly" has an American-to-British English translation... 😆

It's amazing to me the lengths some go to in trying to avoid buying the genuine article.

And oh yeah, f-u-g-l-y.  Translates into most any language by the look on my face.

I honestly hope the design choices brought some former owner lots of joy.
But yeah, as someone who has brought two of these Fernandes instruments back into original working order - this one hurts a bit  :o   All that nice zebrawood, covered up...
Sounds darn good in the demo video though!

This guy is actually pretty cool - he sells Japanese basses, both new and more “vintage” (70s/80s), and also resurrects basses that aren’t in very good shape - hence, “Funky Junk” - the demo starting around 6:40 gets pretty good.

Agreed hieronymous, Bass Japan Direct's videos are great; he actually takes the time to describe and play many of the individual basses they sell.  And they're often brands or specific models that I don't often see here locally in the US, which keeps it interesting.

Also nice that Danny is actually a proficient bass player!  Seems surprisingly often that when stores are posting video demos of basses, it's played by someone who is obviously a guitarist and can barely play bass.  Not that I'm complaining; it's still nice to hear the bass, but it doesn't really do the instrument any favors!  ;D

Danny is a great guy and the one to contact if you are interested in Japanese basses.

While I would never want my Alembic painted red, I thought the bass in the video didnt look all that unfamiliar... ;-)
