Purchased a heavily modded system.  Not working ideally at the moment, but curious to find out, if I can figure out how to upload a pic, if these pickups are Alembic electric guitar pickups, or for P-Bass type setups.  The numbers on the filter are 475-021.  Put a pic up of that as well.  These two pickups in the pic, they are wider/fatter than the pickups in my P-Bass.

Edit:  I measured these Alembic pickups.  They are 1.4275" by 2.6865".

Would someone with Alembic sized humbuckers, or P-Bass sized pickups, please let me know their measurements?

Thank you

This is what you need to do to post images...
First reduce the physical size; the maximum height is 1,200 pixels and the maximum width is also 1200 pixels.  Next is reducing the file size; the maximum file size if 500kB, and no more than 10 attachments per post.

Once you have them sized correctly add the text to your post and then select preview, there will be a button at the bottom for adding "attachments and other options". Navigate to the images and select them then select post. They will not display if you select preview but if the size is correct they will appear when you select post.

I think those are HG's... humbucker-shaped guitar pickups. I put a set of them in this guitar a couple years ago.

*and I may be misremembering things, or totally bonkers on this, but my mind for arcane trivia seems to think these were used on a few of the Alembic Japan models with bolt-on necks... I dunno... I'm having a weird day.

Thank you for the reply.  They look like humbucker shaped pickups to me as well.

They look like the HG/AE-1 guitar pickups to me.  They should be interchangeable, size-wise, with standard humbucking size pickups.  Alembic P-Bass style pickups are the same size as the Fenders.  Once you get them installed, I’d suggest trying them set a little lower/further from the strings, than you usually set passive HBs.  All my gigging guitars have Alembic PUs/electronics.  Enjoy your new PUs!

Thank you for the replies.  Will measure these when I get home.  On a gig.

Seem like humbuckers to me.  Purchased them as P-Bass shaped Alembics.

I have both.  I’ve built a couple of basses with Alembic P-Bass pickups.  They are the same size as standard Fender P-Bass PUs.  They are smaller than standard size humbuckers.   Alembic’s humbucker replacement PUs are the same size as standard humbuckers, like those found on a Les Paul or an ES-335.

Turns out the screw mount holes of the Alembic Pickups I bought, they line up perfectly with humbuckers, and humbucker pick guards.

These Alembic measurements are approximately:
1.4275” x 2.6865”

The pickups on a Fender Precision Bass of mine measure:
1.1080”  by 2.2160”

These Alembics are indeed humbucker size, for guitar, not P-Bass.  They were sold as P-Bass pickups.

Hopefully can return them to the seller.

Thank you for all the help.

If that doesn't work out, someone here may be interested... they are fine pickups. See if you can sort out what controls you have there, bass or guitar. Here's a picture of the HG-AE-1 set installed.

(reminded, I need to get that guitar out and mess with it...)

Thank you very much for the pic.

My assembly appears modded (maybe somewhat extensively), best I can tell.

Two filters, two volumes, two three way switches, that appear like they'd be Q-Switches, but seem to only turn the pickups on and off.  Possible that maybe I don't have it all connected quite right.  I have four sets of the Alembic Strat shaped pickups and I've never seen one that looks quite like this setup.

In my opinion someone would have to know these systems pretty well to sort it out.

Might the 3-way switches be “off/on/bright”?  Alembic uses these in the Further and Tribute guitars.

Maybe so, Bill.  Thank you very much for the tip.

Just testing these outside of a guitar at the moment.  Tapping on the pickups, so might be hard to notice that difference in tone without putting in a guitar.

I don't even have a guitar, or pick guard that would be ready for this type of a setup, if I wanted to try and make it work in something.  Just bought them for a P-Bass, as they were advertised.

Waiting to hear back from the seller.  If he doesn't want them returned I would probably post here and put up more pics, so someone could get more of an idea on what they'd be receiving.
