This is different from what was being sold few months back.....

Very interesing, both use Macassar ebony, no back laminate, and medium scale....  I guess someone ordered from Alembic in batches?  But why medium scale with small standard body??

The top one certainly looks like a Macassar ebony top, the second one more like Rosewood (with a Macassar ebony facing on the headstock).

They both look like fairly early Signature models, without the actual signature decal.

But why medium scale with small standard body??

Because medium scale with a large standard body would weigh more (and, arguably, look a little silly).

fwiw a small body medium scale (32") 4-string Series I is my unicorn ...if I was still unicorn hunting.

The small body with the medium scale is the best of both worlds, in my opinion.   I have 2 of them!    I'm just so short, the large body is too much for me.

If memory serves, the Standard Point body and medium scale neck were designed to go together.  And I think they look like they were.
