The GD Newsletter today included this link (https://www.dead.net/features/socially-grateful-days-between?eml=2024August1/6536716/6131962&etsubid=218923450) to download the "Days Between" image you now see as my avatar, and asked that it be displayed as such today through the 9th.

Happy birthday, Jer; we miss you!

I have fond recollections of the Dead at Roosevelt Stadium in Jersey City on 8/1/73…at the start of the third set (when it was finally dark) fireworks attached to the railing in the right field bleachers lit spelling out “Happy Birthday Jerry”…nothing left to do but smile, smile, smile…thanks John Scher.

I, too,  was at the Roosevelt Stadium show on Jerry's 31st birthday in 1973.  It was a few days following the Watkins Glen show with the Dead, The Band, and the Allman Brothers.  (600,00 in attendance, bigger than Woodstock!)   The Band opened at Roosevelt Stadium and it was the final appearance of Alligator.   Great Dark Star as I recall.  Twelve days later, I moved to California.

I, too, was at Watkins Glen - came over from Boston to meet friends from NJ who said: "Just meet us at the sound board the night before". Yeah - I never found them, but made some new friends and had a good time...do you remember "Looks Like Rain" as a shower rolled in followed by "Here Comes Sunshine" as it passed? ;D

Wasn’t at Watkins Glen, had to work.  Listened to it live on the radio.  Sounds like the Fare Thee Well show in Santa Clara when the rainbow appeared over the stadium.
