Standard Small Body bass in Japan
« on: July 12, 2024, 07:21:38 AM »

Popped up this morning:

Small standard body, but what electronic package is that?  Europa?
It has the usual "2 knobs and rotary PU sw" as Spoiler, but with 2 more toggle sw?

Bass looks to be from the mid-80s....

It appears to be the Distillate electronics package (pickup switch, volume, filter, Q switch, quick tone switches (boost, neutral, cut) for bass and treble). A Signature of the period (presumably 1987) would have a decal of Stanley's john-hancock on the headstock. If the serial number has a D then it was ordered as a short-scale Distillate with a small standard body.

Love that Bird's-Eye Maple!

Ah, Distillate!  Should've known that!

Indeed, very nice Bird's-eye!

I also prefer this pick-up spacing... not a big fan of the current "more space b/w neck and neck-pickup"  I think it looks much cleaner!
