Electric 12 string tips, tricks, and hacks

I thought I would share a few tips from playing and working on my double neck electric 12 string here.
Please feel free to add any more that you know of.

1) Playing with a very thin pick can increase the 'jangle' of a 12 string.
2) Using flat wound strings can also help.
3) Medical hemostats are extremely helpful when working with strings. You can usually find these at a gun show.
4) Close up glasses or vision aids are often helpful.
5) If working on a double neck, take a cheap string winder and cut the handle down to where it will fit between the necks. While still awkward, this will save a lot of time and trouble.
6) To help get the strings in on a string-through-the-body guitar, especially if reusing old strings, first insert the string end into the small red plastic tube removed from a can of WD40. (A hemostat might be needed here to force it if the string is bent up) Then you can push the tube up through the ferrule from the back of the guitar and carefully grab the tube from the top above the bridge and tug the string out.

#6 is the greatest hack I've ever heard of, THANKS!

(I can't recall ever having worked on a double-neck... I did have a fleeting thought of buying one once)

And for any string-through-body, keep a length of low E string on hand, ball end, cut just longer than the width of the body.  When an old string gets stuck and won't come out (note that I did not say "if"), shove your high-tech custom-made string removal tool in from the top and Bob's yer uncle.
