RIP ASTON "FAMILY MAN" BARRETT
« on: February 03, 2024, 06:12:11 PM »
I heard this on the radio a few minutes ago.

I am truly gutted as he was my first inspiration to become a musician.
I will be playing many of his basslines today in his memory.

I found out he had passed earlier today, huge loss for the reggae community. He was a true stylist and trailblazer. And of course, I knew immediately this would be a  big one for jazzyvee... continue to take the inspiration and run with it.

That's a tough loss. What else can you say about somebody who starts from scratch with a whole genre of music, and makes it what it is? That's a hard curve to be graded on.

I think Vince has exactly the correct and appropriate tribute... honor the man, by playing his music as well as you can.
