Down to musicla seeds and stems?
« on: January 26, 2024, 07:22:56 PM »
Not to worry!

The current issue of Vintage Guitar magazine has a glowing review of The Lost Planet Airmen, Back From The Ozone.   The Commander & Lance Dickerson are, of course, gone - but John Tichy, Bill Kirchen, Buffalo Bruce Barlow, Andy Stein, and Bobby Black got together with another steel player (why you'd want another one when you have Bobby I dunno; mebbe at 89 he had to nap after takes.....), a singer, an ivory-tickler, and a drummist and put out a new album!   No mention of Billy C. Farlow; Kirchen does most of the lead vocals.
I do believe I may need to snag this 'un!

Peter (who regularly does "Seeds & Stems", and has been known to sing "Smoke That Cigarette, back in the days when he did so with one in the corner of his mouth)

found it. i'll have to give it a (virtual) spin after my upcoming mroning drug therapy.  i was learning how to play when "live from deep in hte heart of texas" came out.  bruce's thumpy bass made a very deep impression on a much younger and yet to have been down mr. BeenDown.

stoner side note:  as much dope as i smoke these days, i can't say the last time i saw a seed or even a stem of significant size.  one of the many advantages of cheep legal weed in this state is that the path from seed to smoke is highly regulated and you (almost) always know exactly what yer gettin.  hadda go out on a dope buy yesterday and reload the spice rack. wonder what the old commander would say if he saw this go into the grinder....
Been down...now i'm out!

Likewise - but I confess that I miss the ritual of opening Live/Dead and cleaning before rolling (and wasn't nice of the boys to use the rougher paper inside to facilitate that?).

Peter (whose face is red over the subject line misspell.......) (and who does, yes, still mostly roll, despite owning numerous pipes and a couple bongs)

A classic. The Commander and the Airmen were the first “rock concert” I ever attended, at age 13.
Live each day like your hair is on fire.
