R.I.P. John Diggins (Jaydee)

I have just been told by a mutual friend that John Passed away.
This has been posted on the Jaydee Facebook page.



"It is with deep regret that we have to let you know of the sad passing away of Jay Dee (John Diggins). He died suddenly but peacefully in hospital on the morning of Tuesday 2nd January, following complications in battling a long term illness.
He will be dearly missed by all who knew him, especially his wife Helen, sons Michael and Andrew and grandsons Jake and Toby.
Funeral arrangements will be made shortly and announced here."


Truly a lovely guy. I have been using John for maintenance of my guitars and basses since the late 70's.
His sons have been doing most of the building in recent years after John had health issues.

Oh, so sorry... Yes he was a great builder and repair guy. His work spread around the world.

Sad to hear. I once played one of his instruments at the home of an owner in the USA with the offer of purchase which I did not . That bass had interesting construction . It is nice to hear that his family shall carry on with his brand.

Sad news indeed

I had one custom made 1986- a cross between Mark King and George Anderson.  Did me well for 14 years.  Sold it recently as too heavy for my shoulder and been using my Alembic Orion 4 since 2000.
Nice to see Mark King gone back to JD basses and getting some of his best sounds,in my opinion, in Level 42.
