Oh oh, trouble with 73-28, the bass you rescued?

No, 73-28 is fantastic, I was playing it today with a big grin stuck on my face :)

I bought a pair of old Series pickups from 1975 about a year or so ago.  It turned out that only one worked.  I hope to completely rewire the original electronics that were in 73-28.  If I am successful, I would like to find a second older two-tab pickup to go with the one I have and match them up with the rewired original electronics.  Then think about what bass I would want to put them in :)

Ah, excellent!  Sounds like a fine plan.  Doesn't Mica have some late model pickups lying around?

Those pickups you bought Rob... any chance they were the ones from 75-173...? I remember those were floating around a while back and wondered if they were any good. Maybe one of them was, the other was D-O-A.

That bass had quite a journey. I think the story went; it finally made it home, and was fitted with Anniversary electronics. The ebony humcanceller was nice. Nay, the matching thumbrest.

Jimmy, I’ll check with Mica to see, that would be great if they have one available.

Greg, yes, that’s the bass they came out of, they were tested by Alembic and was determined only one worked and the other was not repairable.

The actual vintage pickups I have with the tab design are all rejects for microphonics. Sorry, I don't think they will be good for anyone.

We do make tabbed pickups on request, however I prefer to use phenolic or some other non-metal tab if possible to have the least interaction with the pickup itself.
