Courtesy of translate.google.com:

hello, I have a series I alembic that I bought in the 80s with great sacrifices then for family reasons I had to stop playing and the instrument ended up on a wardrobe and remained there for a lot of years, lately I lost it again in my hand, however, playing it, I realized that it was not 100% effective, in fact the pukup at the bridge is dead, I ask you for help in order to solve the problem because this way I feel as if I had lost a leg.
a cordial hug to all of you

Welcome to the Alembic Club!

There may be nothing wrong with your bass. If you are using a standard guitar cable in the 1/4" jack (and running on battery), you will only get one pickup. It is a stereo jack (sometimes called TRS for tip - ring - sleeve) and needs a special cable that has the stereo plug on one end and two normal (TS, tip - sleeve) plugs at the other end. This is sometimes called an insert cable.

and uncle Google's version:

The problem is that even with the 5-pin stereo cable the pickup at the bridge shows no signs of life, thank you so much for your availability

Hi Oscar, welcome to the club.

We're sorry to hear you are having trouble with your Alembic and hope we can help.  Since the instrument has spent some years in the closet the first thing I would suggest is "exercising" all the knobs and switches.  Rotate the knobs through their full sweep 30-40 times.  Same with the pickup selector switch and the Q-switches.  Also the "Treble" jack of your DS-5 has internal switches so plug in and unplug a cable 20+ times.

Do you have sound from the bridge pickup coming out of the "Treble" jack of the DS-5?

To go further you would need to open the back panel and do some experimenting with the preamp board.  Let us know if you want to try that and we will give you some ideas.

Also, we love pictures so please post some if you can.

Oscar,

Thanks for the photos. That is a good looking bass that seems to be in mint condition!  Let's see if we can get both pickups working.

oscar

Oscar,

Yes the pickups are the same and can be swapped.  This is the next step in troubleshooting your problem. It is time to open the back panel to reveal the circuit board.  But which connectors does your bass have for the pickup wires?  Do they look like the first picture or the second?
