Jimmy Buffet passed away yesterday at age 76.

My wife just told me.  I used to drag her along to his shows back when we were dating 30+ years ago.  Back then I was sailing ships for a living and to quote Jimmy, "living my life like a song".

This one is going to hit me hard once it sinks in.

We have spent a lot of time in Key West over the years, seeing lots of good music at his “Magaritaville”.  A true original who did it his way.

Saw the news this morning.  He seemed to be about enjoying life.

I've been somewhat unplugged and had not heard. That's a tough loss.

He had a much broader appeal than just one slice of the American music scene too... Jimmy Buffett, it could be argued, even had a measurable impact on pop-country radio. Not that I think he meant to... he was just doing what he did, and they came to him. I think the first time I ever really paid attention to him, he was doing a collaborative with James Taylor (this would've been maybe 25 years ago...) and it got in my head, there was so more to the guy than leader of an overblown party band. The writing was particularly smart, but still... funny! It's hard to do that on a project deadline.

You always feel better better when a Buffet tune plays. What better can you say?

Saw an Instagram post from Sir Paul that aligns with your statement.  A good person, a good life and now a good rest.

I probably played “Margaritaville” a thousand times in the lesser honkytonks of the nation. I enjoyed it every time. I was fond of Jimmy’s music and books. A character. RIP.
