San Francisco International Pen Show 2023

Saw Mica and Bill at the San Francisco International Pen Show! I don't normally attend these, but have a friend who I went to high school with in Tokyo who was also there - they were in the next room over! Apparently day 1 (Friday) was crazy - lots of limited edition stuff - but today (Sunday, day 3) was nice! It's just south of SFO (San Francisco International Airport). BTW, the various pen holders have an Alembic image branded into the back - and serial numbers!



I got to play an Alembic acoustic too - what a treat! I almost NEVER play guitar (for the past 15-20 years?) especially not acoustic - but this was a delight to play!









I only knew about this because someone on Facebook posted a picture of the main room of the event. I thought, I wonder if Mica's there? And texted. Then texted my friend, knowing that pens & ink are his business. And YES both were there the whole weekend!

Cool!   I’ve got a couple of those oval boxes.  Gorgeous wood work.   I also have a little round stash box made out of the end of my Further’s neck.   Alembic’s little side projects are sweet!

Of course my wife caught me playing an E maj chord in the pic - if only the audio could include the music I was playing - easy part from Rush's Xanadu - just slide that shape up 2 frets!

In all seriousness, though, I honestly don't play guitar much at all the past 15 years or so, but the fact that I could do what I did was tribute to how amazing this instrument is! Low action, pretty much effortless.

Good eye! Apparently if someone actually bought the bass at the show, they would get the matching accessories included for free!
