Doing a little plug for some nice folks I met while vacationing in Galax, Virginia recently, at the Old Fiddlers Convention... this is a pretty big gathering of musicians that happens every August here in Southwest Virginia, and I didn't think to ask how they had heard about it, but one afternoon while walking along the vendor row, I happened to spot one awning that had the familiar shape and logo of Paige Capos on it, and a man and woman sitting in the shade of it with a big display of... well... Paige Capos. It was a couple minutes before I realized that I was talking to Bryan and Lisa
Paige. They'd come to show a few new wares, and sell at the Fiddlers Convention, and had a nice in-person deal or two running on a few of them.
It was pretty cool to actually meet the guy who came up with that legendary sleek design yoke-type capo years ago. (one of their originals is worth BIG BUCK$ if you can find one) They run a nice business, and their new designs are
really something. I bought myself a handmade RetroPro from Bryan (#274) custom fit to the slightly tighter fingerboard radius of my Gibsons.
I've still got my old prototype Daniel Smith capo from 30 years ago for everything else... Daniel did the R&D for the McKinney capo, if you ever heard of them... Rice kinda' started that rock rollin' down the hill, and suddenly all of us needed better capos.
I seen it first!!! Anyhow, If you find yourself in need of a nice capo, give the Paiges a ring or a ping.
