Hello from Finland
I have Alembic Essence bass. It has been my favorite bass many years, and really like it
It’s like an beautiful painting and every detail has been taken attention….. and it sounds GREAT!!!
Serial no is 90K 6266 USA
Can I get born history from this site?
Can You tell me why it’s K90? Made in 1990? ... I have read that manufacturing started at 1991?

I bought it about 10 years ago from Jyväskylä.
It was really a big coincidence, because I was going to buy Precision.
This was even cheaper!!!??? I've never understood why?
......well, you can't argue about matters of taste  8)

Greetings Timo, and welcome to the club.

Glad to hear you are enjoying your bass.  We like pictures in here so post some if you can.  (You may need to be resize them and they won't preview until you hit "post".)

The letter "K" is for the Essence model and the 90 does refer to 1990.  I'm not sure what year they started making these but you may have an early one.  Show it to us if you can.  And be patient about the serial number search, they tend to happen in batches but it can take a while to get an answer.

Yep, you got that right!   :D
Welcome to the camp Timo.  Take your time exploring the subtle nuances that come from the craftsmanship in the construction and the artisan electronics.

Hi Timo,

Thank you for all your kind words. Looks like i have the start date on the Essence basses wrong - so I'll have to correct that. In any event, here's the details on your bass:

top: Flame Maple
accent: Walnut
body: Maple
neck: 3-piece Maple
scale: 34" long
fingerboard: Ebony
inlays: none
pickups: MXY4
controls: volume, pan, filter, mono output
originally made for: Bass Center, Finland
birthday: not recorded, but likely late December 1990

This is one of the original Essence basses. When we started this model the idea was to have all the essentials of Alembic: active electronics, neck through body, fine craftsmanship. There were very few options. You could only get 4 or 5 string, fretted or fretless, right or left handed.

Hello
Thank's for information about my Essence!
It's nice to have a history  :)
When we started this model the idea was to have all the essentials of Alembic: active electronics, neck through body, fine craftsmanship....
... well i must say you did a great job on all of those things. it's more than just a bass guitar ... it gives a sense of urgency to your playing because it's always "there".
Exactly as you expect it to be!
there is no more Bass Center here in Finland, but I'm trying to find a musician for whom the bass has been ordered. "digging" history is interesting  ;D

Thanks again and nice start of winter.
We already have 5 cm of snow here

Welcome to the alembic family. The more you get used to that bass you will find out how fantastic these instruments are. You may want to check out another bass player from Finland who also plays alembic basses Jan-Olof Strandberg. He is a superb bass player and a really nice person. i met him at a bass event in London a few yearsa ago.
