sunn amps back from hte dead?

i don't really pay much attention to the amp market these days..  if it ain't at GC then it's probably outta my league.  saw this while my brain was on idle during lunch break.

i gigged with a sunn 200S teamed up with a road 15" cab for years.  loved the sound of that amp. guess times have changed. kinda wondering why i gotta have 500 watts on stage with me now.  not only that -  $3200 USD for 65 watt tube head?  maybe they're headed back to the dead after all.  wouldn't be the first time f3nd3r's killed them i suppose.

looks like they moderenized their solid state amps.  just like everybody else.  ya gotta be really special these days to separate yerself from the pack with music gear.  good luck guys!

In my experience the Sunn solid state stuff was pretty dependable back in the day (I used to gig with a Coliseum Lead in the 70's some) but the tube gear was prone to failure. Of course, solid state sounded like solid state.

One more name under new ownership (Fender, for more than a few years now) that has literally nothing to do with the Sunn gear we grew up with.  The new amps are supposedly CMOS front ends with Class D power out back (Just Like the Old Days ! ! ! ) and 100 watts.  I anticipate rigs with more steam, but time will tell if Fender decides to spend the money on production and promotion to make this work.  It didn't with SWR.

I would regard that sort like the current "Triumph" and "Indian" motorcycles or "D'Angelico" or (now gone again) "Stromberg" guitars; might be fine bikes & axes, but have no relationship what-so-ever to the real thing.

Eastwood is coming out with a copy of the Burbs Flyte guitar that I think I would like. I bought a Sidejack Baritone a couple months ago that I immediately modded to have 4 controls instead of two, and the build quality is fine for the money. I have recorded with it and it sounds good.

I miss Eastwood's first models - the Splattercaster and the Collision Bass; think Fenders gone Gumby........

The Collision bass reminds me of the Ritter bass Phil played.  If Dr. Suess played bass, he'd use one of these!

Fender made a Splatteraster.  The closest I could find from Eastwood was their Surfcaster.

Yeah - the Fender was just a paint job; the Eastwood predated that, and was a guitar version of the Collision (I seem to recall a trippy Tele-type, as well, but I disremember the name).
