Good morning members. This is my FIRST post in our new club, and I must say that MICA has done a superb job. I want to share an experince that I had today at 10:00 EST, with two people from RUMBLE SEAT MUSIC. They recently listed several ALEMBIC basses on their sight, so I called and asked a few questions. I initially spoke with an older adult male, then after a MOMENT of silence during the inquiry, and without notice, the call was given to a younger adult male. What disturbed me was the fact that neither one seemed to know much about the ALEMBIC basses that they listed on THEIR sight as being for sale. I was told that the 1977 short scale bass listed is a Stanley Clarke signature standard and that it COULDN'T be a series I, because the series I has a standard point body. What disturbed me the most, and caused concern, was that when I asked for the serial numbers, I was told that they don't give serial numbers over the telephone. The serial numbers aren't even listed in the post, but the pictures certainly are... I'm in the market for a resale (used) series bass, but I'm not in the market for potentially being ripped off. I don't know anything about them, and I'm not alledging that they are not a legitimate business...etc, however,I can think of only two reasons why a seller COULDN'T give serial numbers over the telephone, fax machine, web site, etc...
