77-688 Long Scale Small Body
« on: July 15, 2023, 07:22:27 AM »
34” Long Scale
9.4 pounds

I use a suede back strap and it balances perfectly and does not move, no neck dive at all

This is the most comfortable Alembic bass that I have played

Forward strap button does not in any way interfere with my ability to play the upper registers

Top and back look to me like Schedua

Core looks like Koa, maybe Cherry.

Maple and Purple Heart neck (beech center lam?) with what looks like rosewood fretboard, looks like mother of pearl inlays

Sounds and plays beautiful…a wonderful bass :)

Congratulations & Compliments on yet another great bass, Rob.  :)

I'm a little partial and pre-disposed to those early-'77 Alembics, and this one isn't too far removed from mine. I'll guess a couple months, maybe six weeks apart.

May be Koa too, the files should clarify…

Thanks :)

I’m starting to think the fretboard might be darkened Purple Heart…
