Edward,
Welcome to the camp.
Lovely looking bass.  Are you the original owner?

Welcome, beautiful zebrawood bass!! :)

Do you know what the core wood is, and does it have silver lined abalone inlays? Very nice!

Edward,
Welcome to the camp.

Not the original purchaser but practically the original owner.

A rich father bought this for his 12 year old son. Because it's a long scale the kid could not really play it. He traded it to his bass teacher (a Fender collector) and then the teacher put it up for sale in late 1976 for $1000. I had a Rick bass at the time that was about 3 years old. He took $700 plus the Rick.

I had two issues with the bass. Within a few months, the circuitry failed on the neck pickup and Mica replaced it at no cost (I just had to ship back the bad one) and sometime in the 80s I replaced the bridge with an updated one (from Alembic).

The finish is still in great shape. Not like some of 75-76s I seen for sale.

Looks great. I wonder if the son of the rich guy is still playing bass.
