What are the temperature fluctuations like with the weather changes? I could see wild swing in temperature resulting in symptoms like you are seeing too.

Just a thought:  how about putting some rice in the control and truss rod cavities and let it sit for a day or two?  The rice should absorb any moisture

wwell, waving chicken bones at it and mumbling incantations at the top of my voice at it has had no effect, so i'll try (almost) anything at this pointe.  damp and gray as winter in seattle areound here.  gonna last a week or so i hear.  this neck seems remarkably stable.  all my other basses went crazy when the monsoons moved in.  i dunno.  the hot tub's not up to temp yet.  it's raining.  might as well get stoned and reflect on it.  again.  and again.

btw -  they were dark this morning, went out for a dog walk, come back andthey're blazing at full glory.   made lunch, checked again, faint as a butterfly's scream.

and they're baaaaackkkkkkkkkk!

the usual evening activity - got good and baked, started going thru the fretless set at pretty good volume.  halfway thru "the red telephone" by love, i look down at the neck and the high register LEDs are flickering back to life.  palyed for about another half hour while they came and went.  kinda like watching sleeping beauty awaken while i tickle her neck.

best is can think of is now that the soggy spring weather has finally departed the mile high for a day or so, all my necks are starting to dry out and contract.  the bass was about 1/2 step flat when i tuned up and i can tell it's another dry day from being unplayable without me tweaking the truss rods and jacking with the confounded bridge.  again.  and again.

the SII has been acting hinky so i'm pretty sure its truss rods are next.  almost afraid to look at the essence.  it's prbably ready to take out bow hunting by now.

so maybe i gotta put up with a half-lit neck in the spring, hte rest of the year it's all good?  could  be worse i suppose.  gonna hafta meditate on this awhile.  the sun's setting.  the hot tub and vape pen calleth.  letcha know how it goes.  later.  probably.  i dunno..
