A $1,700 jump in price in 4-years (if it actually sold for the listed Reverb price) but still not outrageous for a 97 Series II given current prices. I do agree that with the current market, stuff is hanging around a LONG time on Reverb with many way overpriced Alembics sitting there for 2 or more years. I recently sold my 93 Europa 6-string to Dan for $3500. I bought it for $3,200 purchased a new hard shell case for it, and threw in an older DS-5 (Dan, did you get it to work?). Given that I wasn’t playing it often, I felt it was a fair deal for both of us. Looking at Reverb, similar Europas (5 string not 6) are listed at prices ranging from $5,000 - $7,900. However, most have been listed for 2- or more years. I keep going back to my hypothesis that except for people finding themselves in dire circumstances (as in I lost my job, have no insurance, and my kid needs a life saving operation) no sane person (excluding flippers) really wants to get rid of an Alembic. So…they list them at exorbitant prices just to see if anyone will be foolish enough to bite on the listing and make them an offer they can’t refuse.
