Greetings from Germany! Sparky got an Elan 5 :-)
« on: April 07, 2023, 11:41:48 AM »
Hi Folks,
Some days ago, I received an Elan 5 from 1989, my first Alembic since I started playing Bass in 1987!
After a few years playing, I was always thinking to get an Alembic, seeing Mark King and/or Stanley Clark...
So now, finally, after so may years, I'm happy I can play one abd its mine - OK, no "series", but a really great (and now vintage?) instrument which brings fun, new ideas and the special sound to me!
Thanks to the family for building such great instruments, Alembic!
Sascha

Sparky, Welcome. You have a nice model with the Elan. There may be more elaborate Alembic models, but all models share those Alembic designed pickups, and all have that natural and clear voicing.

Welcome, and KR is correct, the elan is a superb bass. It balances superbly and the sound is so bright and punchy. Any photos you can share yet?
The sound of Alembic is medicine for the soul!

Sascha,
Welcome to the camp!.   Owning an Alembic really is a treat.  Glad you got one.  As you already noticed, these instruments draw more creativity from the user, so many tones and subtle nuances…

Thank you all for your welcomes and answers!  :)
I'm still gambling arround to find "my Alembic tone" setting on pre-/amps.
It is the solid tone base and the kick of the instrument, I don't want to stop playing..... :-)
Neck shape an spacing seems to be made for me! :-)

I'll post a good pic asap, currently, i've only low res bad quality pics on hand, sorry.
I found a note here where it has been sol one year ago from NL, I bought from that customer, I guess.

BTW: this is mine now. A year later, cleaned but not polished (next job on the brass, also replacing the schallers to new ones)
