Vintage Alembic Speaker

Hi -

I recently got this Alembic speaker cabinet and looking for more info on it.  A few facts...

- Those aren't the original speakers (They are Celeston S12-150's which sound great)
- The speaker clips will be in my hands in a few days (current speakers are screwed in)
- The dimensions are 15" x 15" x 31"
- There is a single 1/4" jack on the back
- Was purchased in the Bay Area by the previous owner without speakers

Any insights?None of the speakers in the wall of sound appear to be the same proportion as this, but I did find a photo of the Dead using a cab that appears the be the same in '73.

Regarding how it sounds... I have only played it a bit in my home office, but it seems to sound as big as it looks. I was quickly impressed with the way notes bloomed from the speaker. The 150w Celestons seem to be very efficient so it's very loud. I'll need to try it out at gig volume, and eventually with JBLs in it, before finalizing my opinion. I play guitar, by the way.

I believe Club Member, [Sonicus] has a similar, if not identical cabinet. He may eventually see your thread and share some firsthand detail...

I toured with these cabinet types; 2x15 and 2x10. Later they became the Bag End brand. Just really nicely made sealed cabs that later became ported depending on the cab. A tight and clear sound is what they deliver. Typically deeper from front to back than most cabs of the 70's.
