OBEL Breakout Lengths
« on: March 04, 2023, 04:20:56 PM »
I’m having a couple of OBEL cables made and was asked how long the breakouts have to be.  The FAQ description does not mention this. Does anyone know?  Thanks!

One cable has to be long enough to reach from your guitar out to your amp.  The other has to be long enough to reach from you OBEL jack to your pedal-board.   This cable will split into two mono ends.  These have to be long enough to plug one into your pedal-board’s input and the other to the pedal-board’s output.  Or, if you use a junction box, like the Hubbub, both cables need to be long enough to reach the box, then you will need a cable long enough to reach from the box to your amp, and another long enough to reach from your box to your pedal-board, also with two mono ends.

OK, thanks Bill, I ordered an American Loopers OBEL junction box.  I’ll get a stereo guitar cord to go with it (I have the mono patch cords for send and return). That should work :)

Lots-O-cables!   I’ve recently been playing without any guitar cord at all.  I go wireless into my pedal-board which includes a Quilter Superblock U.S., then a speaker cable goes from the Superblock to a Hardtruckers style 1x12.  The Quilter is effing incredible!

Thanks, Bill, but I don’t know if there is a wireless unit that will both send and receive.

There‘s not, AFAIK.   I believe one would need three separate wireless systems on three different channels to be wireless and use an OBEL simultaneously.   That’s why I don’t use an OBEL and had my custom Further built without it.
