Yup, definitely a good call. I keep stuff like that in a safe place, all together and easy to retrieve.
A lot of my 'education' came the hard way, after my little professional-musician / crash-diet in Nashville, Tennessee back in the 90's. Being young and kinda' clueless, and making more money than I had ever seen as a humble public servant back here in Virginia, it never occurred to me that I might owe taxes on that income. Without access to any good advice, you know, what receipts to save, what records to keep... I ended up paying the Commonwealth of Virginia income tax on all the money I made, a good portion of which was spent, living in the Great State of Tennessee. And about twenty-five other States we drove that van across. Live & Learn, son.
My tax lady sets aside 30 extra minutes to holler at me for something dumb I did, or didn't do, to this day.
