Deep breath, modders.....
« on: February 07, 2023, 08:49:07 PM »
So, I just watched the State Of The Union Address, and I am upset!

I mean, c'mon - it's the President of the United States addressing The People In Congress Assembled.

They couldn't have found a soundman who'd hear and stop the constant 1K ring???????  A disgrace, I tell you!

As we know, not all sound men are of a high caliber. Perhaps his ears were shot or he didn't sound the room? Perhaps a Driverack 260 could be put in the next budget!

8 years ago, I was in DC and occasion to hear a government soundman at work; he was top-notch, so I know they have them.

I also chatted with him; he was from Chicago & we knew a lot of the same folks.

I wonder if Been Down is on to something.   I did not watch that program Peter, but I do recognize that with extra birthdays under my belt that I have trouble hearing voices properly in certain environments, coupled with a constant hum/ ringing sound in my ears.  I tend to avoid crowded, large rooms when possible.

I saw some pictures from the event you saw… it looked rather silly.

Thanks! Meanwhile, some of you sound like earwax build-up may be troubling you, I know it is the case with me, about twice a year now that I'm over 50. A gentle drop of olive oil into the ear canal daily, and let it soak for 10 minutes. Contact your GP if it doesn't go away.

That's what I was hoping for, but, alas, no - so I'm now waiting to hear they got my new hearing aids in from the factory.

This is a serious psychological hit to someone who used to make his living with his ears.......

Peter (who can, however, still hear 1K just fine)

I may try that olive oil trick.  My wife and I used to do ear candles but heard varying stories on their alleged benefits....?

I've had my ears tested and know my hearing loss and tinnitus is the result of loud music and computer machine rooms in my younger years. It was the reason I had custom musician's ear plugs fitted some years back. I use them whenever I'm going to be in a high noise environment whether it is musical or mechanical in nature.

There's a chance that decades of rock'n'roll played a role in my loss, I guess, but as a matter of principle I insist it was 30 tears of truck-driving noise, coupled with 2 3-month stints of factory work, and a youth filled with discharging firearms sans ear protection.
I mean, every od truckdriver I know is at least half deaf - but not all of the old soundmen are.

Please take care of your hearing, folks! I started using ear plugs diligently 20+ plus years ago and I can still hear 12khz at age 62. I'm dealing with tinnitus in a major way, but tinnitus retraining therapy helps a lot.
