An amazing man with amazing talent and an amazing story.   A miracle that he made it to 81, considering his life-style.

May the Four Winds Blow You Safely Home

P.S. Mica posted while I was writing this.   I was fortunate to have the opportunity to play the Gibson Crest 12 string in the picture, highly modified by Alembic, while it was at the Mothership for a tune-up.

A year or so ago a friend recommended the YouTube channel "Ask Croz" (which recommendation I wholeheartedly pass on) with the note "He is one of our few Elders".  I concur.
This one hurts bad.

Fortunate to see CPR,  recalling that the magic of that evening was very present.
Glad he made it this far.

Healing wishes for family and friends.

Sadness, bereft of wind to speak, I sit.
A lachrymose moment, extends for hours.
I shall listen to this masterpiece, long.
Thus, the spirit shalt anoint me with peace
Together in respect, we remember.

Carry on David! The magic of your music was a gift that no one else could bestow.

That's some tough news first thing this morning. Probably not many of us here un-influenced by his music in some way.

Back when I was a sensitive young man with a 12 string guitar (in my pre-bass playing days) I got a Crosby songbook that included his alternate tunings and chord diagrams to go with them for tunes from If I Could Only Remember My Name and the first 2  CSN(Y) albums. It was a revelation, to say the least. Then there was the matter of his amazing vocal harmony abilities...

I once heard Joe Walsh say that when Crosby sang harmony, you didn't really hear him, because he was always perfect.

The "Crosby Tuning":  EBDGAD

And no, I don't use it; I have enough trouble with one tuning.....

If skinny-to-fat, the B-D and G-A intervals would be either too long for anything barring barre chords, or they'd need to be going up rather than down.

This from someone who enjoys tuning his mandolin string pairs in different intervals, not starting in fifths, so I'll be only too glad to be proven wrong on this
