Year and Week Code Stamps on Pots
« on: January 14, 2023, 05:58:46 AM »
Mica, do you know if the year and week codes are (were) stamped on the control pots at the beginning or end of the build process, or sometime in between start and finish? I ask because I have a couple of basses with codes on the pots showing a year prior to the year indicated in the serial number. Thanks, Rob

I'm going to go out on a limb and venture a guess here, Rob; pots are one of the few things Alembic doesn't make in-house, & I think the codes are put there by the manufacturer.  Alembic, if I'm not mistaken, uses Bourns, which I am not really familiar with, but on CTS and such like, they're stamped into the metal at the CTS or whomever factory; that's the date the pot was made, not the instrument.

Yes - the date codes that are on the pots along with the rest of the manufacturer's markings are put there by the potentiometer manufacturers. Our date codes for assembling the harness will either be stamped in black ink or handwritten.
