On December 8, 1980, I was playing music at a friend’s house when a buddy from NY called with the horrible news. Has it really been 42 years?
Imagine.

Man, can he really be gone longer than he was here???
We miss you, John.

We found out listening to the radio at work the following morning. Mom sent everyone home - just too much to process.

42 years. I was playing lead guitar in a country band at the Queen’s Hotel, Peterborough, Ontario when we got the news just before the second set. Very sad memory every year.
