Friend sent me a pic over the weekend. It's a short scale so I passed. Thought the group may like a shot. No pictures on their site yet but here are some from a reverb sale.

In the old Reverb ad, it claims the scale is 33", which while not impossible seems unlikely. More likely a mis-measured 32" medium-scale. Or is it really a short-scale Mark King Signature, as in, 30-3/4"? Or is this one of those cases where anything shorter than 34" is a short-scale?

Without putting my hands on it, I believe it is a short scale. I asked a sales person at the store to measure the scale length. He came back with 31 inches. Which means he probably measured from the nut to the edge of the 12th fret instead of center and rounded up for the sake of brevity. So 30.75 seems accurate also given the build sheet.

I'm still debating driving over to check out the bass. Last short scale I had, 1959 Gibson EBO really wasn't that bad. I have large hands so the upper frets can be bothersome. And Stanley seems to have ZERO issues with that scale lenght and he's a tall cat! I'm sure it sounds amazing at 14lbs!

and i'll bet they won't budge an inch on it.  i run into that a lot.  it used to be one of my favorite soapboxes to preach from.  nowadays i just say: "good luck with that sir!"

Well I have to admit, that's pretty cool. I can't recall another MK Sig in true short-scale. I'm sure there must be a few.


(impossibe to read that build sheet on my phone, but I can see it well on the work desktop... just don't tell the IT crew I was... oh wait... pffft... like those guys work holidays!)
