Hello all,
I have just pulled 76-562 from sale on Reverb and EBay, because I would prefer for it to go to a club member. Selling only due to health issues. RV can vouch that it’s a wonderful bass as well.
Description:
Wonderful series 1 long scale bass from Alembic, 1976. Completed in late ‘76, this very same bass was a catalog model for the early 1977 brochure (see pics). Original brochure will be included with the sale. Includes new hard shell case, original power supply and 5 pin cable. Plays and sounds great. While basses this age often have extensive finish checking, this one only has a handful of finish cracks front and back. Neck is great. There is what I believe to be a little finish checking along the seam of the back headstock bottom laminate. I am not a luthier, but I cannot identify any actual repair, nor evidence of one. Regardless, it is smooth and feels great. There is a smudgy area under the finish on back of neck on maple side about mid neck, it must have been original to the wood. The bass has flat sawn Zebrawood laminates on front and back of body, as well as Zebrawood headstock laminates front and back. The core of the body is Koa, which imparts a warm and wonderful sound. The neck is maple with purpleheart. Fretboard is Macassar ebony with mother of pearl inlays. You can see some golden streaks in the ebony near the nut, a quality of Macassar ebony. These can also be seen in the catalog pic. The pickups must have been replaced around the early 80s as they bear an Alembic stamp that doesn’t appear until then (see pics). The series electronics are all working well and sound great. I LOVE this bass and would not be selling if I didn’t absolutely have to. It is very special.
