An embarrassing question
« on: October 31, 2022, 11:17:43 PM »
I'm the proud owner of an Alembic Orion 5-string bass, stock setup EXCEPT that a previous owner had replaced the controls with some aftermarket stuff. I bought it from a person who was not the person who made the changes, and noticed that the original Vol-Blend-Treb-Bass control setup was in the case.

I've had the bass for something like 3 years now. During that time I rehabbed the bridge, replaced a few of the threaded inserts, had the bass Plek'd, so far fine. Then I went to replace the aftermarket controls with the originals, and the originals were missing. I take full responsibility; I'm an adult with ADHD that wasn't diagnosed until my 40s, and I'm sure that I removed the controls from the bass's case to put them someplace safe. That place is safe from me, too.

In an ideal world, I'd simply order another set and put them in. Sadly, I don't live in that ideal world, and don't have the $1100+ USD to afford that.

If I don't break the forum's rules too badly, is there a decent less-expensive setup that could get me at least part-way back to the Alembic that I desire?

Welcome to the Club. I hide things from myself all the time.  :)

You'll probably find them eventually... you could wait around for a secondhand set of Orion/Epic electronics to appear in the swap shop.

If all you need is the wiring harness (not the pickups) then it probably won't cost you the full amount. Call a dealer and ask. I like Will Gunn Guitars: 615-708-7783

Post us some pictures of that bass over in the Showcase threads sometime.

I thought I was the only one.  Spent 30 months yesterday Looking all over the house for my glasses.  Found them on my head.  Yay!
Been down...now i'm out!

I guess if you spent 30 months yesterday searching for them you must be a time traveller. :-) i hope you meant 30 minutes.
The sound of Alembic is medicine for the soul!
