Le Fay ROB 344-66 / IIIa 5-string with RHT 2016 Orange

This particular bass was previously owned by Tad Kinchla of Blues Traveler. He has signed the inside of the control panel plate. He played it on tour this summer and there are some great videos on YouTube -check out “Dropping some NYC” for a great bass solo!

I'm selling this amazing Le Fay ROB. Hand built in Germany by Reiner and Meik brothers. Some consider Le Fay as the Fodera of Germany.

The ROB is an amazing combination of very technical details that culminate into some amazing tones on an extremely fun and effortless bass to play. Because of the B-Bow the action is set low and makes the bass very fast. The B-Bow essentially shapes the length of the neck with more room for the lower strings so they maintain the same radius for all strings. Also, amazing slapping tones. Just a joy to pick up.

Body: One piece Ash
Neck: African Padouk
Scale: Multiscale (33.46" G string to 35.24" B string)
String spacing at bridge: 19mm
Fingerboard: African Padouk, with B Bow feature, 22 frets
Inlays: Pearloid dots
Tuners: LeFay Right-hand tuning system
Pickups: 3 LeFay Single Coil pickups in J/MM configuration
Controls: Volume (pull for passive), 6-way Pickup Selector, Full-time Passive Tone Rolloff, Treble Boost, Bass Boost
Hardware: Black, including Schaller Straplock system
Weight: 10.2 lbs

For touring this summer with Blues Traveler, Tad made two small modifications - he replaced the routed cable Jack with a flush pickup jack to accommodate his right angled wireless cable. A very easy fix if you want to go back to the routed cable jack, which Tad will be sending me. He also removed the extra strap pin that got in the way of the cable, and is sending me that as well.

There are some small dings and some wear on the body front from thumb and slapping.

Ships in a solid Mono gig bag.

Askkng $4350 and a tad (no pun intended) negotiable. I’m on Long Island.

Thanks!
