I hope it's ok to post this here.
It's hard to do, but I'm selling my 1992 Essence 92K4178USA. It was a "rescue" that has been brought back to being playable and sounding great. This bass had the pickup cavities routed out (not very cleanly) and bigger alembic pickups installed. My understanding is that the electronics were obtained new from Mica by the prior owner, but they were not able to complete the installation correctly. Originally, it was a natural maple top, but had some deep pits in the top and looked like someone tried to bleach the affected areas. That's the state the bass was in when I purchased it.
It was given a non-pro refinish with 5 coats each of Stew Mac black guitar laquer and clear. Some small areas of pitting still show as dips on the sirface of the finish, so it's nowhere near perfect, but doesn't look bad. The wiring was connected up correctly and an Alembic Q switch and new gold Alembic machines from Mica were added.
This is a fun bass to play and it has the Essence sound. To be a better bass, it should probably have a fret level, a new nut, and bridge saddles installed. To be perfect, it would need a major restoration. It has a 34" scale with recent Rotosound R66LC's. It will ship in a non-Alembic case which is not viable for serious road use.
I'm into it for $1500, and would like to get that back out of it. I'm pretty sure the parts alone are worth that. I will ship anywhere in the continental US for actual shipping cost, or you can supply your own USPS, UPS, or FedEx shipping label and insurance. I prefer not to ship internationally. DM me if you are interested.
