Beautiful bass, but the ivory inlays create import challenges.

pretty sure this one's made the rounds once or twicet:

might as well make the inlays outta plutonium.  might make it more saleable.
Been down...now i'm out!

Ironically, I'd be far more excited about that bass if it didn't have all that inlay.

Was the scale length mentioned anywhere?

I think it’s short scale

Hi Everyone

I reported the sale last night to the ‘Verb: the seller is trying to sell the bass at double the price and targeting people from abroad to take advantage of the weak yen to make a profit: he/she doesn’t own the bass, and it’s still in the shop that’s actually selling it.

With the ivory and abalone, it won’t get past CITES to ship out, period. This person was a real creep to try that underhanded stuff, basically conning someone and also thinking no one on this side would notice.

Reverb just had it taken down, thankfully.

I know ivory is an issue with CITES, but I hadn’t heard that abalone is now on the list, too.  Are you sure about this?

That's what I love about this place.  People having each other's backs and looking out for one another.

P.S. Recently got back from a work trip to Japan (Tokyo & Hiroshima) where we are collaborating with an organization that produces avatar robots that support people with significant physical disabilities to work through controlling the robot through their eye gaze and eyebrow movements. One of the places they are piloting these in Tokyo is the DAWN cafe

hammer-san,

this cafe is pretty close to my office, I am gonna go check it out.

But yeah, this bass still sits at the shop in Shibuya, I pay a visit every time I go to Shibuya area, no takers so far.
I don't think its over priced, but it is just too customized for the potential Japanese Alembic customers (98% Stanley Clarke fans, 1% Mark King fans, 1% Pro/amateur player).
