What the heck, I'll post this one up here...
You won't see too many of these. Martin never really was all that competitive in the carved instrument market. The lion's share of their mandolins were the bent-top A-models, and I had one of them too until recently, a fine folk instrument. This one though, is the Style 2-15 from 1947, an f-hole, carved-top model. Only made for a few years and discontinued quietly. They came with maple sides and back, and spruce top, steeply arched (very much like a German violin), ebony fingerboard and bridge. The top is finished in the ambertone sunburst of the time.
These aren't collector instruments as far as vintage C.F. Martin & Co. goes, but they are very nice players... hotshot bluegrass pickers couldn't care less about them. The tone though... quite sublime. I've had it for years. It's a nice stable player... I've never done a thing other than change strings on it. Just needs someone to play it. It's in a non-original, but nice hardshell case. I do have the original pickguard, and the mounting hardware/screws. I took it off years ago. I'll leave the strap with it too, as a courtesy. (good mandolin straps are not easy to find)
