WTB Darling bodied bass, prefer short scale or 32"

Seeking a four string Alembic bass with either a short scale or a 32" scale, must be a Darling body.

I'm considering a trade for my practically brand new condition Stanly Clark (Signature) coco bolo bass.

I think what I meant to say was "K-bodied bass", which I guess is not necessarily a Darling.

There are some Darling basses out there now. Not sure if they have a J designation or a different one. But I believe there are both short and medium-scales available. Balance K in medium or short may be a little bit harder to pin down.

Greg is correct about short scale Darling 4-Strings being more likely to come up than the Balance K body type. You are correct that they are distinct body types. Those balance Ks  that I have seen have typically been long scale. In short or medium scale they have often not been Signatures but rather Series I or II.

Darling, and Little Darling. J body guitars, adapted for basses also recently.


Mine is the only one in the Showcase, and it is a little atypical. The body is a good representation though.

That's different from a "Balance K"?

The Balance K has a full-size bass body, like in my avatar. This shape will accommodate extra long scale, but short scale is fine too (ah-um, Phil Lesh).

The Darling has more like a guitar size body, as you can see in the video that SRG linked to. I expect they will build these in short scale only, like they do with the Stanleys and Brown Basses.

I don't think I ever realized the earlier issues of Darling guitars came with that mix of pickups... I thought mine was a bit unusual, but perhaps it's just one of the first ones. I sure do like it though. I've had to kinda' rethink and undo some of my thought patterns. 

*To the point of the thread though, I believe there are a couple medium-scale Darling basses. Station Music has three or four in inventory now, but I believe all are short-scale... black with LED's.
