Yes, I've got some nice basses.  I may not be the best customer though since '89 was my most recent purchase.  Ha! 

I have three "matching" 5-string fretted Series II basses, two from '89 and one from '87.  Same wood choices, same dimensions, same electronics, but they're each a bit different - at least to me.  The '87 is my studio bass and the one you saw me demonstrating was my main road bass.  I carry the 3rd as a spare on tour and use it at home for practicing. I also have two oddball Series I graphite-necked fretless 5-strings from '80 and '82. 

That's my entire collection of instruments and it's been that way since 1989.  And I still love the TONE!!

ill add to the make video part.

i try to do this with the minimum of equipment.  i've found that a galaxy tablet in selfie mode (btw i finally figured out how to take out the mirror image in selfie mode.  now when i post videos i actually look like i'm right handed) works really well.  haven't tried it with a phone but it can't be that tough.  put it on a music stand (a napkin holder works really well) facing you between you and your amp.  unless you're camera-shy.  then you can point it at your amp, i suppose. if you've seen any of my videos you can see i lost all sense of shame and modesty years ago.  just hit the record button and let 'er rip, tater-chip!

apart from the narcissisism part (i love hearing myself play.  just ask any of my ex-band-mates!  the watching part - we're working on that),  i've found that by recording myself i've become my own harshest critic.  i analyze my playing visually and acoustically with the aim of improving my chops.  storage is cheap, i trash a lot of takes.  i've been playing bass for almost 50 years now.  watching and listening to myself has really taken my playing to another level.  i highly recommend it even if you never post a video of your playing.  but please feel free.  ya can't do any worse than i did!

I will second that.  When I was playing regular in a Swing Band every gig was recorded and then I would listen to it afterwards.  It really is a helpful tool for self improvement.

We record our practice sessions and listen to them afterwards during the week.  I also find it helps clean up my playing and helps with formulating better bass lines and solos.

I agree with the self-improvement approach when watching yourself on video. I was amazed at the little facial expressions i make that i can never notice, unless someone points it out. Even awkward body movements. So, i will plan to observe and correct little bad habits before i upload myself on you tube.
