I have a 5 string Spoiler bass, very pretty zebra wood top, mahogany body etc.
Trade for 4 string.
I also have a Rickenbacker 4003s (The reissue of the 4001 from the 60's) in Jetglow which I can include if your bass is one of the more expensive models.
I’m in north Texas.

Hi Colin,
Fine looking Spoiler shaped bass you have. Guessing this is a set-neck instrument, so likely a custom based on an Epic/Orion, as confirmed by the electronics.

I am new to Alembic but i think you are correct.
I traded a limited edition P bass for this last week and I love it, However…..
I am more comfortable with 4 strings so I thought I would find out if anyone has a 4 string Alembic who would prefer a 5!!!!

If the low B string is really throwing you off, try srtinging the bass E-C. The 4 strings you're used to will be there in the same familiar places and you'll have an additional 'treble' string to learn how and when to include. Something to consider.
Medium Scale Series 1 Standard Point; Spoiler 5(BigRedBass); Essence 4; Spoiler Exploiter 4

Thank you for your advice.... It is a good idea... In fact I have already considered it.
I think I would need a lighter gauge of strings though so that will have to wait.
I would still prefer a 4 string BUT if I don't get a trade partner I will keep the one I have as it is a wonderful instrument.

Curious; what is the scale length of this bass?

It’s a 32 inch scale.
