Weird EBay Scam Auction Tonight?
« on: June 21, 2022, 10:33:38 PM »
Did anybody else catch the super weird eBay auction tonight where there was a brown bass and a 76 koa series 1? Descriptions had links to low "buy it now" prices where you were supposed to send your name address and email and "wait to hear back" but not bid. Ostensibly a pawn shop closing its doors with hundreds of items including other rare guitars and pro audio gear? Then poof and everything disappeared! So strange. Then the seller name morphed into a British bedding company.

I think I know the type of auction you're talking about. There have been a lot of those in the past year or so. "Too good to be true" prices, then scroll through the pictures and you get to a graphic saying "Do not bid. Bids will be cancelled. Email us here....." They seem to somehow hijack legitimate eBay user accounts until they get shut down. I report these every time I see them. Total scam.

these pop up from time to time, same old scam, maybe someone is stupid enough to fall for it (kinda like those home title lock scams - i guess ya only gotta get one sucker once in a while to keep the scam going).  here's one of a multitude of threads about it:
