Hello.

I acquired this beautiful 6-string 2nd hand more than 20 years ago. I think the serial number is 90D5685 (although the 'D' looks to have been double stamped with a 5!)

I have always wondered about its history and whether there is more information about it....

Would love to hear if there are any records.

Thanks,

Ben O'D

6 string Distillate.  Wow wee!

Sit tight Ben.  It takes time for the build records to get posted.   Meanwhile there are folks who are really good at identifying wood types here that will probably chime in.   Here is a link that describes the controls https://club.alembic.com/index.php?topic=232.0. Although 20 years of ownership would suggest you understand the knobs and switches, more details may be entertaining.

Hi Ben,

Here's the details from the instrument file:

serial number: 90D5685
model name: Distillate
model number: DMB6
top: Flame Koa
body: Mahogany
neck: 11-piece Maple and Purpleheart
scale: 32" medium
fingerboard: Ebony
inlays: Pearloid (plastic) ovals
pickups: Alembic AXY56
controls: "Distillate" volume, filter, 2-position Q-switch, bass cut/flat/boost, treble cut/flat/boost, 4-position rotary pickup selector switch, mono output
originally made for: Pro Audio Australia
birthday: not recorded, but likely December 1990
Those double strikes are the most valuable with coin collectors, I wonder about Alembic collectors :)

Thanks so much for this Mica  :)

It's so fascinating to get this kind of information on an instrument I have had and loved for so long!
