Nice fretless MK Deluxe on reverb
« on: April 11, 2022, 04:45:26 AM »
if it had LEDs in the neck, i think my beloved fretless essence would be hitting the auction block right about now.  maybe i could peel its FretFX strip off and transplant it?  probably not.  but still...  whooo.... what a beauty!

It looks like that bass is at Bananas at Large now, maybe 30-40 minutes south of the original seller:

Is there an interesting story behind calling a musical instrument shop "Bananas at Large". I recall visiting one looking to find a gigbag during my trip to the states to pick up my bass from alembic. I felt a right plonker asking for directions to it.

Don't know about their story, but there was a band based here in Roanoke, Virginia by the name of Bananas At Large some years ago... I knew a couple of the guys, and sat in on bass for a couple tunes at a party one night. Some of them are still active in another band now. I remember they had a big bright yellow car with the band logo on the side... hey, it was the 90's. We were all plonkers.  ;D

I remember seeing a post somewhere online where the owner said no one remembers where the name came from!
