Congratulations on the new to you bass. Serial number look-ups are handled on a time available basis so can take some time to be completed. If you post some pictures of the the instrument we should be able to give you an idea of the woods used to build it and any custom features it might have.

Thank you very much Keith-san!!!

I'll take some photos later today, but I think I can safely rule out cocobolo from the possible top wood.   It doesn't have that typical 'orange' hue.

This is my 5th Alembic bass in my life (2nd of my current arsenal), it was just too good of a deal to pass up, and I am super impressed with the way it plays.
I never realized until I played this bass, but the SC (or on all small standard body?) has bit different dimensions compared to the standard point body, like bit narrower nut, bit closer string space at the bridge (I measured 18mm, vs. 19mm on my SI), all very minute difference, but makes a huge difference in the feel of the instrument.
I am so glad to discovered this, as I have been avoiding small standard body......

Anyways, I'll see how I can post some pics.

Thanks!

That's a very nice SC Signature you have there.  Is it the standard or the deluxe (also would have a Macassar ebony back) version? I've got both Series I basses and an SC Signature. The position of the body is quite a bit different playing the two. I wear the SC higher and use my elbow to snug it to the body so the neck remains in the position I desire.  Congratulations on your acquisition.

Hi hammer-san,

It's a deluxe (made before there's standard and deluxe), with back laminate.
No fancy options, like continuous backplates or LEDs, but if this is Macassar Ebony top, that's fancy enough for me!

Mica-san:   This is no longer needed, as I have sold this bass recently.  Thank you very much.
