SC Deluxe At Bass Gallery London
« on: February 17, 2022, 08:42:26 PM »
Apologies if this is already up (I tried to check older posts).

A bit pricey but the top and back woods made me wonder if this wasn’t Macassar Ebony: thoughts?

Nice bass, my guess would be coco bolo. Continuous backplates with an extra one for side leds batteries. Those would usually be custom options. However i recall Mica telling me when, i rang her back in 2002 to enquire about one that i susequently bought, it was common for the UK dealer at the time to order basses with continuous wood backplates. Probably is high and significantly more than i paid for mine brand new. Looks like it's a 2008 build

Hi jazzy:

Thank you so much: being from England you could see the price as it applies there.

Yes, the price is very high in my opinion: just a few thousand (dollars) under a new one. The other post with the person trying to sell a friend’s bass was even considered too high if above £5,500.

There are two more up for sale there. Epic and Essence.

We do see higher priced listings in the UK for used alembic. But, that price you could get a decent used series I bass.

I was a bit disappointed; I often check their website, and this shop most often has spectacular like new gear (like that Essence), take wonderful pictures, and are very pleasant to talk to. I will just keep looking and drooling when these come up. Alembics are definitely worth taking the time to look around for. My thanks, Sir!

Hi, that's my bass which The Bass Gallery is selling for me.

As Jazzyvee has guessed it is indeed Cocobolo top and back laminate, accent woods are maple and purpleheart, the body wood is mahogany and the fingerboard is ebony. The photos that the Bass Gallery took appear to be darker than the actual wood colour. From 2008 The bass is in mint condition - there are no marks or scratches. The Alembic logo on the pickups is worn from playing. The original hard case is also immaculate.

The Bass Gallery suggested the price. I have asked them to drop the price... It is currently £6,500 but I'd be very interested to hear if that is still too high? I am very open to offers so if anyone is interested in it please contact them.

I can send better photos showing the Cocobolo if desired.

Thanks for looking!

The Bass Gallery is a wonderful place, as I wrote before, and the staff are VERY HELPFUL: it’s not me criticizing them, as much as the climate with used prices nowadays, you can see with Alembic and high end basses on Reverb…after all, everyone has to be happy with the sale!

I know when I unloaded a guitar to be sold here in Osaka Japan, the shop owner I deal with suggested the price then too. I thought it was high, but it sold quickly, so he knew better than I did, I guess! Lol

I had put up that post because it was a nice looking bass, but with the price I WAS curious if it was a different wood top and back. Just wanted to clarify: all respect!
