Hello all -

I'm a new (and of course happy!) owner of a 1985 Alembic Series 1.

Unfortunately, the bass did not come with a hard case. I'd like to have Alembic build a case for me.

I'm located in the midwest and would prefer not to risk the bass by shipping it to the west coast.

Can anyone tell me the process? Could I trace the bass full scale and send to Alembic?

Thank you for any information. (And yes, I have left messages already... I'm sure they factory is very busy.)

P.S. - the bass is custom ordered as I assume many are, so it isn't a generic configuration and will require a custom case.

P.P.S. - added photo. The bass on the right is a 1975 Fender Precision, all orignal.

Hi Thomas, and welcome to the club!  That's an unusual Series bass you have there.  It looks like it may have been based on the Spoiler body.  I would call Mica at Alembic with your question.  I wouldn't be surprised if Alembic could provide the right case working with your serial number.  I don't think you'd have to send it in to the Mothership just for a case.

Additional Welcome.

If I remember correctly, that is a short-scale Spoiler, and the earlier pattern body too... maybe? Might better check on that and confirm before sizing up a case. The slight difference in overall length from the additional 1.25" scale on a medium-scale Spoiler might actually matter where the upper neck support lays in a case. Or may make no difference at all.

Pretty bass. Glad to see it found a good home.

*I usually handle my Alembic bizniss with Will Gunn. http://www.willgunnguitars.com He fixed me up with a case for my 1980 Series I last year.

Thomas,
Welcome fellow cheesehead.  What part of the state are you in?

And yet another welcome. Congratulations; lovely ax there!  I will reinforce the advice of others to ask Mica.

It looks like a Spoiler body with some tweaks to the upper bouts; a Spoiler-bodied Series is my idea of the perfect bass, BTW.  Do my eyes deceive me, or is that a whammy bar?

We checked the voicemails and it looks like we got one from you last Thursday - sorry for the oversight.

What kind of a case are you looking for? Hardshell would have been the original type, and generally takes the longest to receive. We can also make arrangements with various road case makers if you need something sturdy. Recently we can also coordinate with a high quality gig bag maker if that's your thing.

We can pick this up offline if you like - just advise.
